Teddy's Summer Movie Roundup!

Teddy's Summer Movie Roundup!

Hello, Popcorn Enthusiasts!

So as I kill time this summer waiting for my book to come out (August 20th, people! This is happening.), I find myself going to the movies a lot. And thinking about movies a lot. And mumbling to myself incoherently about movies a lot.

And, well, I've decided to stop doing that last one. So instead of randomly whispering things to myself such as, "Gosh, that Jaden Smith sure seems sad," I'm posting all of my Summer 2013 movie thoughts on this here blog!

BRACKETOLOGY: Ranking the All-Time Best Literary Lovers

BRACKETOLOGY: Ranking the All-Time Best Literary Lovers

Hello, Lovers!

Today is February 14th, Valentine's Day. It is a time to honor not just your own Sweet Baboo, or the greeting card company billionaire geniuses who created this day, but really, it's a time to celebrate all who have ever loved.

And, in particular, let's celebrate the characters from books who taught us about love. Even though "books" are going extinct in like two years, I think we can all agree that virtually all of history's greatest romances (except for Justin & Kelly) have come from the world of literature.

The NEXT BIG THING Blog Hop!

The NEXT BIG THING Blog Hop!

Hi, Literate Folk!

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop is a series of blog posts in which an author answers ten questions about his or her upcoming book while simultaneously tagging other authors who then take to the Internet to answer the same ten questions about their own books.

It's not unlike a chain email. *~*~*~*PASS THIS POST ALONG TO TEN FRIENDLY ACQUAINTANCES BY MIDNIGHT OR ELSE YOU WILL GET LEPROSY. *~*~*~* ...But I digress.

The First Annual Teddies! Presenting my Arbitrary Awards for Achievement in Film.

The First Annual Teddies! Presenting my Arbitrary Awards for Achievement in Film.

Hi, Cinephiles!

I love seeing as many movies as I can every year in theaters. I love writing preposterously long blog posts. And, against my better judgement, I love awards shows.

So with the Golden Globes gone by and the Oscars yet to come, it is only natural that I, a person who is just as ill-informed and fickle-minded as any of the voters for those awards, have decided to create an awards show of my own.

Thousands of English Teachers Descend Upon Vegas: A Photojournal

Thousands of English Teachers Descend Upon Vegas: A Photojournal

Hi, Constant Readers!

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get to attend the Annual Convention of the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) on behalf of my book, Trash Can Days: A Middle School Saga(coming out in August 2013 -- check it out, you can actually pre-order the book on Amazon  -- even though it's a whole human pregnancy until the release date!).

I drove down to Vegas last Friday with my Official Girlfriend of the Trip Courtney and we had ourselves quite the weekend. We met some authors, stole a bunch of free crap, avoided some scary Vegas people, and, of course, we waded our way through hundreds and hundreds and thousands and thousands of English teachers -- a veritable post-apocalypse's worth of book lovers. It was awesome.

My Little Sister's Illustrations of the Characters in my Book!

My Little Sister's Illustrations of the Characters in my Book!

Hi, Guys!

Two years and one day ago, on my 21st birthday, my little sister Emma, as a present for me, drew me the coolest sketches of a bunch of the characters in my book, Trash Can Days: A Middle School Saga. At the time, my novel was basically just a second draft--waaay far removed from publication--and so those drawings were the first real, actual glimpse I got into my story's potential as something that wouldn't just be living inside my brain for eternity.

Frequently Asked Questions About...My Book!

Frequently Asked Questions About...My Book!

Hi, Future Readers!

A long time ago, I wrote a book for kids. A long time from now (10 months and 28 days, to be exact), it will come out. In between those two times, I have gotten and will get a ton of questions about my book.

However, I have received several other questions about my book, some very worthy questions, and so I thought it would be worth a blog post to address these questions so that in the future, anybody who wants to can just check my website for the answers at any time they want. Now, of course, when people find out I’ve written a kids’ novel, most of their questions go along the lines of, “Is it about sexy vampire teens? Is it about lusty werewolf tweens? Is it about ugly Minotaur babies?” (Answers: no, no, YES.)
